Don’t Panic! is a dance performance that focuses on the subject of fear and distress about the future. The piece involves an intense soundtrack, a continuous monologue in the form of spoken word poetry, visual trans-medial techniques and highly expressive body language. The use of rhythm and contrast heightens the impact of the sound images as they relate to dance and the spoken word. Moments of silence, blackout and immobility act as elements of fragmentation: calm before and after the storm.
The monologue provides a dual viewpoint, taking both center stage and emerging as a voice offstage.
No single language can fully express what it means to be overcome, overwhelmed, terror stricken, which is why the artists’ collective works with various media to investigate the subject in depth.
